Fantastic Four Reboot: 10 Ways To Guarantee It Won't Suck

7. It Doesn't Have To Be Dark & Gritty

Attention, Hollywood! Not every film has to be dark and gritty, understand? We blame you for this, Christopher Nolan! Ever since Batman Begins, almost every Superhero film outside of the Marvel universe has got it in their head that the story has to be dark, gritty and realistic. Well, it doesn't. The Fantastic Four is supposed to be weird! They got their powers from cosmic space radiation, for heaven's sake! One of their team is a talking rock! Thinking about it, you could see how they could make it gritty, but you also can see why they shouldn't. Some franchises really work this way, like Batman, and others just don't, like Superman (let's not get into an argument about why Man of Steel was terrible). Fox need to take a leaf from Marvel's book, who know when to be dark and when to just have fun with a series. The time to go dark is sequels, but the original reboot needs to be fun to get bums in seats. Too dark and people won't see it.
