7. Lucas Black Will Return
Back in 2013, when the news broke that Lucas Black was set to return to the franchise, Deadline reported that the Tokyo Drift star was going to be involved in more than the sequence tying the 7th film back to the 3rd.
Those reports suggested that Black was also going to come on board for both the eighth and ninth films in the franchise, expanding his role and tying him more substantially to Toretto's team.
In fairness, Tokyo Drift gets a lot of unnecessary grief: it was as entertaining a yarn as the rest of the franchise. It simply suffered slightly for the lack of Diesel and Paul Walker. But Black coped manfully with filling their shoes, and he does deserve to come back again.
After all, with new characters expected to expand the cast, having more recognisable figures come back (and actually be threatened) will give the escalated drama more impact.
