Fast & Furious 8: 10 Huge Rumours You Need To Know
6. Mr Nobody Takes Centre Stage
Unfortunately for Dwayne Johnson, it looks like the Fast And Furious franchise only really has room for one big wildcard star, and Kurt Russell is about to muscle him out of the way.
Though The Rock was basically the shot of Nitrous the franchise's engine needed, he was hobbled (literally) in Furious 7 as Universal began to suspect he wasn't quite as valuable a draw as he was only a couple of films ago. So they brought in Kurt Russell, an older, sharper action head to be the new side star.
It worked.
And the good news is that it will continue to work as Russell's Mr Nobody will apparently step out of the shadows for the final trilogy and take up a far more blatant role. The suggestion is he's going to be Charlie to Toretto's car-toting Angels, with a narrative arc that will (probably) reveal that he's actually a villain himself or something similar.
You can see it coming over the horizon with all the subtlety of a tanker, but that doesn't mean it isn't still very exciting.
