18. Mrs Shaw

When Helen Mirren was added to the cast of Fate..., it was a great day and an indication of just how far the franchise had come. To give her credit, she obviously wanted to have some fun as criminal matriarch Magdalene Shaw, and proved herself very game by even signing on to play the mother of Deckard and Owen.

The problem is in her extremely odd performance as Mrs Shaw. Seemingly inspired by long-running British soap opera EastEnders, her malevolent mummy was lumbered with a God-awful, Dick Van Dyke-like accent, Peggy Mitchell gruffness and Lily Savage wardrobe choices. Mercifully, she wasn't on screen for very long, but it is definitely a long-point for Mirren even if she was no more than a pantomime character.

Still, if she tones it down, it'll still be great to see her and her boys in a spin-off.
