Fast X Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

Ups...

5. Jason Momoa Is The Easy MVP

Fast X Jason Momoa
Universal

Make no mistake, the reason to watch Fast X above all else is Jason Momoa, whose hilariously madcap performance as Dante Reyes basically holds the movie afloat.

Without Momoa understanding the assignment so gamely and hamming it up for the cheap seats, it'd be much easier to roll your eyes at the clunky writing and pic's overall listlessness.

Momoa never once takes the part seriously, fashioning Dante as a Joker-esque agent of chaos who loves mugging, quipping, and goofing around - all for our benefit.

Juxtaposed with an utterly charisma-devoid performance from Vin Diesel - who is evidently treating the material like Shakespeare - Momoa's work only feels that much more alive and entertaining. Seriously, the guy's back must be aching from how hard he carries this movie.
