10. Jack Nicholson
What the...? Now hear me out before you disappear in a huff: Jack Nicholson has effectively played this character before, in The Witches of Eastwick. In that film he was a dark as night, mysterious stranger with a certain unquantifiable essential appeal - whose raw magnetism was only matched by his animal sexuality and his entangling power over the objects of his desire. Yes, he was also Satan in that film, but the character has exactly the same sort of fundamental appeal as Christian Grey - he is controlling, compulsive and animalistic in the bedroom. He was also a fan of S&M, probably to a slightly grimmer degree than Christian Grey, and both the character and the actor have that essential charisma that fans of the adaptation will eat up. Yes he might be way too old for the book's version of Christian, but the idea of seeing Nicholson ensnare his female prey the same way he did in The Witches of Eastwick is just irresistible - and he proved in the wonderful The Departed that age is no restriction to playing virile, and clearly sexually potent characters.
