Fifty Shades Of Grey: 10 Much Better Choices Than Charlie Hunnam

8. Garrett Hedlund

hedlund The On The Road star has elements to his screen persona that would make him as good a choice as Ryan Gosling, for largely the same reasons, while his lesser association with blockbusters might have made him a more likely choice without compromising the credentials that his casting could have given to the project. Hedlund was apparently approached for the role, but passed on the opportunity, according to Us Weekly. The 28-year-old reportedly turned down the offer because of the extended commitment required for the films: "Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn't let him do just one film." So were it not for the time needed to film, we could well have been talking about a Garrett Hedlund casting announcement here, which would have been better than that of Hunnam, if only because Hedlund better fits the collective opinion of what the character should look like. And there's a lot to be said about the actor's disarming charisma, which would have worked as the necessary hook Grey has on Anastasia initially.
