3. Rita Ora's Distracting Cameo
Though much controversy stemmed from the casting of Ana and Christian, one of the more bizarre casting choices in the movie was singer Rita Ora as Mia Grey, Christian's adopted sister. Ora originally wanted to work on the soundtrack, but that didn't work out, and director Taylor-Johnson instead suggested she audition for the part of Mia. Despite reportedly hiring acting and accent coaches, her ultimate role in the movie is only around a minute long, consisting of four lines of dialogue: "She's here?", "Oh my God, you exist", "Uck, Seattle baseball" and something in French. Still, even though her appearance is brief, it's immensely distracting for the entirety of that time. It's hard to concentrate on much else when Ora sticks out from the rest of the cast, but at least she's pleasing on the eyes and doesn't get enough time to embarrass herself, so there's that.
