Finding Dory Trailer Breakdown: 10 New Things We Learned

3. Destiny (And How Dory Speaks Whale)

It's Destiny. No, I don't mean Dory reuniting with her childhood best friend ("It was so much fun because I'd tell you a story and then you'd completely forget about it and then I'd get to tell it to you over and over again") is the result of some vague cosmic power, but rather that's this whale shark's name - Destiny. Voiced by It's Always Sunny's Kaitlin Olson, she shows another side of the movie's journey - it's not just family, but a whole other previous life that Dory's discovering. Despite having whale in the name, Destiny's parent species is a shark, although that moniker is no doubt why the pair initially speak whale (and is probably how the movie will explain Dory learning that skill in the first place).
