First Look: Andrew Garfield as SPIDER-MAN

Sony have released the first official image of Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man costume from their currently filming, web-slinging reboot. The photo debuted at W magazine, Sony's new go-to outlet for first look splashes of forthcoming tentpoles after yesterday's exclusive look at Rooney Mara in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The suit looks fine, right? No problems here. In fact the more time I spend looking at the photo, the more I'm into this darker, less polished look. It's definitely not the first image I expected Sony to release from this new series reportedly aimed at younger audiences, so that's promising. Also, I wonder where those scars came from on Parker's face? Rhys Ifans' Lizard, perhaps? And hell, I'm just glad they released an official photo before they started shooting the Garfield-in-costume scenes and we got a dodgy reveal from some dude's iPhone.

The still untitled Spider-Man reboot is set for a July 3rd, 2012 release starring Andrew Garfield in the title role, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors/The Lizard, Irrfan Khan as Proto Goblin, Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Uncle Ben & Aunt May, Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson and Campbell Scott & Julianne Nicholson as Peter Parker's parents. As far as we can tell, there's no Mary Jane, no Harry or Norman Osbourne. At least not that we know of.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW SPIDER-MAN COSTUME?
