Fox Just Ruined 2 MAJOR Details About X-Men: Apocalypse In TV Spot
If you haven't seen it, don't watch the latest teasers.
While X-Men: Apocalypse has now been out in Europe for what feels like weeks, North America is only just waking up to the film's offiical release date, so it's inevitable that they've been cautious about avoiding spoilers from their European friends.
Luckily though, Fox are just ploughing in there with as many spoilers as possible, probably because of the divided critical response. Someone, somewhere has decided that the best way to stem any negativity the poorer reviews is to reveal some big details. First we got the Wolverine tease (which was entirely unnecessary), and now the latest TV Spot has not only revealed the end of Jean Grey's arc in the film, but also a brilliant fan-baiting beat at the end of the movie.
It's completely needless. The film is already performing well at the box office even despite the ludicrous suggestion that it's the worst mainline X-Men film (it's not even close to), and giving away too much steak is not a good way to get someone to buy the cow. All PSAs about teenage sexual activity should have taught you that by now.
The latest TV spot shows off the fact that Jean Grey allows herself to become the Phoenix (albeit temporarily) by the end of the film...
And also that the Sentinels reappear...
If that wasn't enough, it also gives away the fact that Apocalypse and Quicksilver have a fight, and who comes off worst...
So much for surprises.
Now, that's not spoiling the context of either, and in the first case it has been heavily foreshadowed, but Jesus, that's some BS spoiling for people who care about such things.
It's cheap, and it's not the right way to market, even if Fox have fears about the film's performance. And you can't help but shake your head at it.
