French actor is Bond next's nemesis

Mathieu Amalric is Bond villain?

Fox News that 42 year old French actor Mathieu Amalric has been cast as the next James Bond villain in the currently untitled 22nd mission for 007. He is likely to play the character of Vesper Lynd's French-Algerian boyfriend who is widely rumored to be the main villain in this one, alongside Jesper Christensen's Mr. White character. Amalric is probably best known to English speaking audiences for his small role in Spielberg's MUNICH but in Europe he has won great acclaim this year for his leading performance in THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY, where ironically he played the son of NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN villain Max Von Sydow. Bizarrely, in MUNICH he also played the son of MOONRAKER villain Michael Lonsdale, so I guess cinematically he has been groomed to be a Bond baddie over the last few years. This news is not 100% confirmed by the trades yet, but he certainly seems to fit the profile of the type of actor this new series is looking for...
