"Friday the 13th" comes in July next year?
After The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake a couple of years ago did good numbers, remakes of the other big horror franchises was inevitable. We already know that Rob Zombie is currently re-making Halloween (that remake pisses me off more than any) and now comes word that the Friday the 13th remake could be in cinema's as early as July next year. Bloody Disgusting have got hold of someone who attended the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors and had this to say... After the 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning' Panel, I was talking with Andrew Form, one of the producers who is also producing the new 'Friday The 13th', and he said that the remake, which is tied in a rights battle right now, should be in theaters by July 2007. He also exclaimed that they will fight to the bitter end to make sure it is released with an R rating, no PG-13 bullshit for Jason Voorhees." Well nothing concrete but the site does claim that some official news on the project is just around the corner, so I guess we will stay tuned to this one. I'm quite happy about seeing a Friday the 13th re-boot actually, more so than any of the other horror franchises. Mainly because the character and movies had gotten so bad with Jason X, the only place it can go now is to re-boot or die, and I would far rather have Jason Voorhee's in our cinema's than not. I guess A Nightmare on Elm Street will be the next to be remade. Again, it doesn't have to be a remake of the original, just do a stand alone movie with Robert Englund that has little to no continuity to the others and it will work, especially if a good director is helming. Anyone else think a re-boot to Friday the 13th is actually quite a GOOD idea? source - bloody disgusting
