Friday The 13th Movies: 13 Things You Didn't Know

10. Camp Crystal Lake Is A Boy Scout Camp

Friday the 13th - Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco Most of you guys probably knew this one already, but for those of you who didn't, the filming location for Camp Crystal Lake is Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, a Boy Scout camp near Blairstown, New Jersey. The camp still serves as an active Boy Scout camp. But what happened to all the Boy Scouts during filming? Wasn't the movie shot in early summer, which is the time of year when Boy Scouts love to go camping? Actually, the original Friday the 13th takes place in early summer, but the filming was done in September, October, and November. In fact, you can see the fall leaf colors on the trees in the final scene where Alice is in the row boat. By the way, that shocking moment where a young Jason jumps out of the water and grabs Alice was filmed when temperatures were below freezing. I don't know how Ari Lehman (the boy who played Jason) could stand being in that water, but I'm guessing he can't have kids after his pod was shriveled by the freezing lake. And, in case you've recently received severe brain trauma and want to spend some time at Camp Blood, you can take a Friday the 13th themed tour of Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco. You can also stop by the town of Voorhees, New Jersey and see the city that inspired Jason's last name.
