Frozen 2 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
3. It's Too Fast Paced For Its Own Good
This movie moves fast, and while Frozen 2 was never going to be a methodical slog, would it have killed the filmmakers to let scenes breathe just a little longer?
The film's pacing is breathless to the point of frustration, where the expected journey element of a classic Disney adventure is mostly left on the cutting room floor.
Characters quickly move to wherever they need to go to the point that it deflates the epic scope the film is clearly aiming for: where is the sense that these characters have truly travelled?
It too often feels like the characters are simply being shuttled from one location to the next in order to set up the next song, and Frozen 2's frantic ending would've especially benefited from an extra 5-or-so minutes to resonate a little deeper.
