Full cast for Chris Nolan's INCEPTION
One of the funniest and quite frankly desperate fanboy hopes of recent years is getting some play around fansites and message boards right now. A significant audience are predicting that Chris Nolan's original science fiction movie at Warner Bros. titled Inception, is actually a mask for something much bigger. They claim it's actually a working title for a third Batman movie, a way to keep the press of Nolan's back a little during production and to not give away any secrets too early. They cite the lack of a real plot for the movie other than the line; "set within the architecture of the mind" and the casting of a couple of old Batman faces, i.e. Michael Caine (Alfred), Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) and via today's Hollywood Reporter, the newly cast Ken Watanabe (who played a fake Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins, though his character is dead) and the fact it's setup once again at Warner Bros. Fanboys have also become intrigued by the castings of Marion Cotillard (who as I have mentioned would make a great Catwoman), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who seems more and more like the logical choice to replace Heath Ledger's The Joker, the more you think about it) and now Tom Hardy, that great British chamelon who could play anything and who I can't believe isn't more famous in Hollywood than he is already. What a Riddler, he could make. The leftover would be Ellen Page, who I guess could play a new love interest (or a female robin?!?) but it's the casting of lead Leonardo DiCaprio that keeps stumbling up this conspiracy theory. Would he be replacing Christian Bale as The Dark Knight... not very likely? In truth, there is just no way Inception is a mask for Batman 3, it's a separate entity and should blow our minds next Summer given Nolan's perfect track record to date. Any further adventures of Batman are still going to be a few years away, but don't worry, once this movie really starts to begin filming next month and we hear trickles of what Nolan is trying to do here, I just know we will be chomping at the bit to see Inception, just as much as any future Caped Crusader movie. Nolan's put together a versatile and intriguing cast, which looks now to have completed it's major role-filling... DiCaprio plays a CEO lead, Cotillard his wife. Page is a young Grad student and sidekick to DiCaprio, Levitt plays an associate working under him, as is Hardy. Watanabe, who Nolan under-used in Batman Begins, now gets the full blown villain treatment as a guy blackmailing DiCaprio. Caine and Murphy's characters are still under-wraps. The movie is set to be released next July.
