3. The Trailers Give Too Much Away

While you can argue that it's a little unfair to criticise a movie's marketing campaign, films aren't released in a vacuum, and how they're advertised to audiences can have an impact on the general reception.

Though Game Night does a fantastic job tying itself in knots and leaving viewers unsure of what's coming next, the trailers did show way too much, both in terms of the gags and some third-act sequences which, for eagle-eyed viewers who've seen the trailers more than once, will de-mystify certain aspect of the central enigma.

Movie studios are well aware they spoil movies too much ahead of time, but they do it anyway because studies have shown that most casual moviegoers - who account for most of those precious box office receipts - actually prefer being over-saturated with footage.

Basically, if you've not seen the trailers recently, don't watch them again before going to see the movie. You'll have a better time with it the less you know going in.
