Game Night Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
2. The Characters Are Split Up Too Often
After the first act sets up the giddy premise, the various couples are quickly split up and sent off on their own fetch quests as they attempt to figure out clues in order to win the game.
Though these scenarios never dip below entertaining, they nevertheless can't quite match up to the hilarity of the central characters being sat together in the same space, swapping one-liners and brilliantly riffing off one another.
The latter two acts of the film swap between splitting the team into their respective couples and reuniting them, and while you can argue this helps keep things fresh, it's a shame more of the film isn't spent in the company of the six main players together.
