Gary Oldman In Talks To Join Star Wars Episode 7

Is the legendary Gary Oldman about to become the first actor cast in the new Star Wars movies?

Gary Oldman It wouldn't be an exciting week end in Hollywood if we didn't get our latest batch of Star Wars casting rumours... This one comes from Sky in an interview they did with franchise guru Gary Oldman. The legendary actor was promoting his new movie RoboCop which is slated to be released February 14 in the United States when he went on to say the following about being contacted for Star Wars:
They've called. I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired.
Oldman is no stranger to large movie franchises as he's been a part of two monsters in the past decade with the Dark Knight Trilogy and Harry Potter saga. He is also slated to be a part of the new film in the Planet of the Apes franchise in a role that is believed to be the main antagonist. Oldman would be a great addition to the Star Wars franchise and both his heroic and classic villains filmography would suggest he would suit either side of the force. Could we see him as a member of the Jedi Order or a new threat to the yet to be announced batch of heroes that will appear on screen? From the Star Wars Expanded Universe, I personally could see Oldman as an aged Corran Horn or Kyle Katarn of the Jedi Order or play Imperial Admiral Gilad Pellaeon from the famous Timothy Zahn book series. Star Wars is slated to hit theaters December 2015. No-one officially announced as being part of the cast yet, but we seem to be getting closer with every passing day.
