Gerard Butler: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
3. Set - Gods Of Egypt (2016)
2016 was a pretty terrible year for everyone, and Gerard Butler was no exception. Not only did he star in London Has Fallen, the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen that no one asked for and even fewer people enjoyed, he made another fantasy action epic.
10 years on from 300, he went from the King of Sparta to the God of the Desert - Set - and his performance was every bit as dry as the Sahara. It's another chance for him to show off his impressive physique, but that's where the impressiveness ends.
The movie is an absolute mess in just about every way possible, from the wonky effects to the nonsensical plot, and Butler's is right there as a terrible bad guy. We've established he can't do an American accent, but here he plays an Egyptian God with his own Scottish accent, and that's only one of the problems with his performance. He shouts, he frowns, he hams it up, and lacking any real charisma or threat the end result is God awful.
