Ghost In The Shell Review: 8 Ups & 4 Downs
2. It's Rather Exposition-Heavy
The new Ghost in the Shell begins with a text-based exposition dump and is fairly loaded with talky scenes of explanation that, honestly, could put a Christopher Nolan movie to shame.
It is sadly fairly unavoidable in a movie with so many complex moving parts that needs to explain itself to a broad audience, and this was also something of a problem in the original film that hasn't really been solved here.
Thankfully most of the talking is still interesting enough, but there are certainly a number of moments where the movie should be showing rather than telling.
