Here's the first image of Scarlett Johansson on the job as The Major in the new trailer, and it's safe to say that she's probably been the most divisive aspect of the movie so far.

Despite her general acting credibility in both the art-house and blockbuster realms, a lot of fans just see her casting as cynical whitewashing, while even more accepting fans simply feel that she doesn't encompass the steely confidence of the character very well.

Johansson's beautiful porcelain face lends itself well to that of a cipher, but you can certainly argue that her eyes look too human, whereas in the anime she had a more uncanny look that reflected the fact that, well, the Major was an ambiguous entity.
