Ghostbusters: 21 WTF Moments In The Female Remake
9. The Slimers
Why does Slimer need a wife? What value does her appearance in the film add when literally the only comedic element to her is the fact that she exists and is Slimer wearing a wig and lipstick?
Is that the extent of the comedy writing here?
Once again, the reason seems to be "just because" - she's a disposable, ridiculous addition who fills space but adds literally nothing of narrative note to the film. Are we supposed to care more about Slimer "dying" because he's got a partner? Is it designed to make him more sympathetic? I just absolutely cannot fathom what they were shooting for here.
Because if it was comedy, it failed at its only fundamental requirement.
