17. The Sony Movies Placement
When the ghosts are all released from "the other side", New York's Times Square goes through a strange transformation as they battle the Ghostbusters.
Movie posters for Taxi Driver, Tommy and Boris Karloff's Isle Of The Snake People (about people rising from the dead, obviously) replace the modern posters in the square, suggesting somehow that posters have souls too. There's also a giant poster for Blu-ray.
Putting aside all theological implications for a minute, all of the posters are coincidentally for Columbia Pictures movies (who also produced Ghostbusters, of course), while Sony owns the Blu-ray format. How very clever.
The other product placement - for the likes of Papa Johns - is probably just down to good old fashioned money talking.
