Another of the classic, fan favourite lines that is paid homage to is taken from Peter Venkman's attempt to convince the mayor that sh*t is about to go down...
In the equivalent scene in the new version, when the Ghostbusters are called to Andy Garcia's office and told to stop their public activities, Yates says they want to try and avoid "mass hysteria" in a nice little nod back to the original.
Garcia's inversion of the cynical mayor from the original is a nice touch: rather than being skeptical and then being persuaded, his mayor is completely aware of the reality of supernatural events, it's just that he doesn't want the general public to be. How very timely.
