Ghostbusters Reboot: 29 Easter Eggs, References & In-Jokes

There are a number of call-backs to Ray Parker Jr's original theme song, starting early on when Abby is appealing to Erin about people being terrorised by paranormal activity. She demands to know who they're going to call when they can't turn to friends or family.

Next, when Abby has been out advertising the newly formed business (with the Anti-Terror slogan "if you see something say something"), she rewrites the message to the more catchy "if there's something strange, in your neighbourhood..."

Dan Aykroyd's cameo also includes a nod, but more on that later.

The song itself actually appears in the film immediately after the opening sequence, rendering the two inferior updated versions that come later complete
