Ghostbusters Reboot: 29 Easter Eggs, References & In-Jokes
24. The Logo
The film deals with the backstory of the famous Ghostbusters logo pretty well (though it is a little conceited), with Kevin the idiot initially charged with designing one. Inevitably, his abilities as a graphic designer have been exaggerated and the best he can offer is a ghost with giant breasts.
When the team head out on their first real mission - to the underground - they encounter a graffiti artist who they ask if he's ever seen a ghost and if he can describe it. Instead, he mockingly draws a cartoon ghost on the wall (off screen of course), before Patty (still an underground employee at this stage) tells him off so he draws the red cross through the ghost.
At that point Holtzmann decides it would make a good logo and the rest is reappropriated history.
