Glass Trailer Reaction: 6 Ups & 2 Downs

2. It Looks Meta As Hell

Glass Villains
Universal

Glass wouldn't really be a true successor to Unbreakable if it didn't feature a ton of meta commentary on comic books, and the trailer makes numerous visual nods towards that eventuality.

While Sarah Paulson's psychologist is discussing the superhero delusion her patients apparently have, we see flashes of comic books, and there are numerous glimpses inside what appears to be the Ontario St. Comics store from Unbreakable.

Literally illuminated by neon signposts are the words "heroes" and "villains", hopefully suggesting that Shyamalan is going to toy with the interplay between good and bad, even though it appears that Crumb and Mr. Glass (Jackson) will team up against David Dunn.

It'll also be interesting to see whether or not Shyamalan decides to pass comment on how the superhero genre has changed since the release of Unbreakable in 2000, given that the original film predates the Hollywood superhero boom almost entirely.
