1. The Director
Now we come to most important element in making the Godzilla reboot as awesome as we all want it to be. The man above wont be known to a lot of you. His name is Gareth Edwards, a relatively new filmmaker on the scene and a talented one at that. If you have any doubts about this man directing Godzilla I urge you to check out his small budget monster flick 'Monsters'. In this film Edwards shows a great understanding of how to balance the time spent on character development and the right moments to introduce the threats. Although on a much smaller scale than what we will get with Godzilla, if he can bring his so called small independent film posing as a blockbuster mentality to the table. We just might be in for something completely unexpected and absolutely brilliant at the same time. Whilst I'm sure many film fans out there would have liked to have seen a more seasoned director to the helm of this film, that doesn't necessarily guarantee success. Take Pacific Rim for example, a film with generally mixed receptions coming from movie goers and critics alike. Established film maker Guillermo Del Toro was responsible for that. A man known for putting his own unique spin on whatever genre he tackles. In the end, whatever you thoughts about Pacific Rim, it didn't really bring anything new or groundbreaking to the table. Entertaining sure, but some people call the Transformers films entertaining...or say that just to be kind. When it comes down to it as long as we don't leave the theater saying ''Ehh, it was entertaining enough'' or ''Same old generic garbage!'' I think we will all be happy with the result. So the gauntlet has been thrown down to you Mr Edwards, please don't disappoint us.
