Godzilla First Teaser Trailer: 6 Things We Learned
4. The Cinematography & Sound Seems Great
This movie looks and sounds dark, gloomy, atmospheric, tense and claustrophobic and it seems to have a great colour scheme, is extremely action-packed and has great special effects. Some of the scenes are incredibly striking in the trailer, such as the jaws of the plane opening prior to the halo jump squad descending in to the danger zone. It's almost as if, when they open, the squad are seeing one last sunrise before their probable demise. As the halo jump squad leave the plane, even with the sun out it is still impossibly dark, which artistically sets the tone even more so. Also, as the halo squad fall, there is a long shot of them falling through a gap in the clouds, leaving a trail of red smoke in each of their paths, and the scene is absolutely beautiful - almost like a work of art. A theme of the trailer seems to be covering each scene in as much darkness as possible - either by virtue of the dark sky covering the screen, huge clouds of smoke, perspective shots with blackened buildings close to the camera or the eerie view through the goggles of the falling halo squad which narrows the view of the screen entirely with a black rim. The music is also quite terrifying, invoking feelings of dread, while the sound effects are abrupt and shocking. This isn't going to be a mere monster romp about a giant lizard - this is going to be a dark, deep, horrifying and emotional disaster movie with mass terror and destruction.
