Godzilla First Teaser Trailer: 6 Things We Learned

5. There's One Hell Of A Mess

If there's one thing that's extremely evident in the trailer, it's that the monster(s) has made one hell of a mess - even more so than in previous Godzilla films or other monster films, such as Cloverfield. In addition to relatively minor explosions, derailed trains with bodies strewn all over the place (perhaps suggesting they'd been dropped from a monster's grasp, rather than the train having merely crashed) and carriages full of people being ripped/bitten in half (which could be a recreation of the classic scene below), the entirety of San Francisco is a complete mess.
As Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character drops in to the city as part of a halo jump squad, the viewer sees it through his eyes and it appears to have been almost completely obliterated. Everything is on fire, absolutely every building is at least damaged somewhat and quite a lot of it has been knocked down entirely. Hell, such is the scale of the destruction, even Breaking Bad's no-nonsense Bryan Cranston is close to tears in the trailer (Cranston who, at one point in the trailer, seems to be running in the opposite direction to everyone else - towards the trouble - showing how bad-ass he is).
