Given the film's title, it might sound a bit cliché to say that Godzilla: King Of The Monsters ended with the big guy officially becoming, well, king of the monsters. That, however, is exactly what happened.

The film's story centred on the rise of the world's prehistoric Titans, as they all awoke from hibernation to serve a new king: Ghidorah. From there, we learned that the three-headed dragon was Godzilla's long-prophesised enemy and that the two monsters were destined to collide for the latter's crown as ruler of the monster kingdom.

However, after overcoming all the odds, Godzilla disposed of King Ghidorah in the film's closing battle, after which he as met by many of the film's guest Titans, including Scylla, Behemoth, Rodan and even a new MUTO - all of whom bowed down to their new king.

From that ending, it's pretty clear that Godzilla has ascended to a height that not even he had reached before. He's no longer just nature's answer to restoring the balance, he has officially taken his place atop the food chain and, quite frankly, there is no creature left to challenge him for that title. You know, unless your a gigantic ape that just so happened to be absent from the entire movie.

Speaking of which...
