After that proper build up, we get a glimpse of something moving under the water as it passes underneath a battleship. It then rises up from the depths as the men aboard look on in awe. Familiar looking spikes pierce through the surface, and it is obvious that this is the big guy himself. However, as good as that is, the best part is what follows. We actually get to see what happens when such a large creature emerges from the ocean, as hundreds of people scurry for their lives before they get washed away in a giant tidal wave. This arguably is the most startling shot of the trailer because it shows what would happen is something like this actually occurred. Director Gareth Edwards talked about treating the material seriously, and this is most likely a mere taste of the casualties we can expect.
