Godzilla Vs. Kong: 10 Places The MonsterVerse Could Go Next

5. Skull Island

Just because Skull Island is no longer Kong's stomping ground, doesn't mean we have seen the last of it.

During Godzilla vs. Kong, we are reminded that Skull Island is one of several gateways joining the Hollow Earth to the surface, which might explain why so many Titans were headed that way after the events of King of the Monsters. Furthermore, although the natives tragically died out after a freak storm, the animals clearly survived in some form - as proved by the surprising but welcome appearance of the Skullcrawlers in the Mechagodzilla testing facility.

It seems impossible that, should the MonsterVerse continue, Skull Island won't feature in some capacity. Although Kong is now elsewhere, and the island is apparently now a frozen wasteland after the storm, the Skullcrawlers prove that at least some of the animals either made it off the island or were transported elsewhere. So Skull Island's legacy, if not its setting, still has a role to play.

Whether as part of a grander adventure, or itself the setting for an entire new story, Skull Island and locations like it have been part of creature features from the very beginning. Surely, it is here to stay.
