By far the most ridiculous part of the entire movie is the setup that brings Godzilla and Kong colliding together.

Apex Cybernetics founder Walter Simmons (Demián Bichir) ends up recruiting former Monarch scientist Nathan Lind (Alexander Skarsgård) to venture to Hollow Earth, a substantial pocket of land contained within the center of the Earth from which the Titans originated - as was previously mentioned in both Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters

There he hopes to find a "life force" MacGuffin capable of powering Mechagodzilla and pacifying the Titans.

Though the hollow Earth theory was rubbished centuries ago in reality, the world of Godzilla vs. Kong forges ahead with its own scientific truth, treating it with near-total - and paradoxically hilarious - sincerity.
