Golden Globes 2020: 10 Ups & 6 Downs
2. Quentin Tarantino Wins Best Screenplay
Quentin Tarantino scooped his third Best Screenplay Golden Globe for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and as wonderful as Tarantino's script was, was it really the best of 2019?
In a year where the legendary auteur was up against the likes of Marriage Story, Parasite, and especially The Irishman, it felt like a pretty safe and unadventurous choice.
Hell, even Tarantino himself expressed surprise at the win, namedropping The Irishman's Steven Zaillian as the nominee he expected to score the win.
Again, it's a strong script, but it would've been nice for the HFPA to spread the wealth around a little more here, and give The Irishman at least one award in the process.
