Gone Girl: 8 Easter Eggs & References You Might Have Missed

7. FindAmazingAmy.com

Either as part of a complex marketing campaign (see The Lost Experience) or just something of an in-joke for more obsessive viewers, it's become customary for any website mentioned in a movie to have a real world counterpart. And, of course, Gone Girl gets in on the act - the website set up by the Elliotts to find their daughter, www.findamazingamy.com, which is plastered on all the billboards and missing posters, is a real site. Sadly the website isn't quite as exciting as you'd hope; all that's there is a Fox News screen (Gone Girl was distributed by 20th Century Fox) with the usual peripheries and links to the film's trailer and social media sites. Still, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' soundtrack playing over and eery flashes presenting shots from the film it's an effective piece of marketing and a nice reminder of the film's distinct feel. Also, it gets points for turning off its background music when you're not in its tab.
