The Goosebumps producers were adamant that notorious ventriloquist doll Slappy was not going to be created in CGI. While there are small parts of the dummy's parts in the movie that needed digital affects to help them work the whole thing out, the dummy itself was built specifically for the film. Slappy is controlled by a ventriloquist called Avery, who drove everyday to the auditions. Letterman said: "One guy kept coming in, this young guy from Alabama, never worked in a movie before, just kept driving over two hours every day to audition. I had professional guys flying in from LA, I mean we had the top guys, and this kid just kept driving in and I kept bringing him back and bringing him back and finally at the end I was like, I dont know what it is, but hes just the one. Apparently the Slappy dummy is pretty creepy in real life when it sits around on set, so look forward to it being extra creepy on the big screen.
I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
