Gravity: 10 Reasons It's One Of 2013's Crowning Achievements

3. Cinematography

20619991 Continuing on the path of asking ourselves how these talented filmmakers achieved something so remarkable that it doesn€™t even seem humanly possible yet, we have to mention the revolutionary cinematography that simply achieves things we have never seen before. Filmmakers past, present, and future will study what Gravity has accomplished here. Most prevalent and awe inspiring are just how few cuts there are in the film. The opening sequence alone is over 15 minutes long, which is unprecedented and insane; you keep waiting for a cut, but instead the camera gorgeously pans around space, its characters, and its exhilarating action sequences, leaving you amazed and breathless. Cinematography like this feels like a natural evolution for cinema.
