And finally, though Tom Hanks is certainly the glue holding this movie together, Blake Neely's remarkable musical score comes in at a close second.

While the overwhelming majority of war movie scores sound extremely similar, Neely's work offers up just enough reinvention to feel somewhat fresh.

Clearly inspired by Hans Zimmer's exceptional work on Dunkirk, the action here is often underscored by an anxious tick, while its aftermath is defined by the expected operatic brassiness the genre is most often associated with.

Given that Schneider's film is clearly designed as a frantic dash to the finish line with well-placed moments of respite, Neely's score compliments that style perfectly.
