It's fitting that Bug, as far as we know, is not scheduled to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy this summer. He didn't make the cut when Quill first assembled his team either. Instead, Bug came along in the second arc of the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning run that began in 2008. Bug is pure comic relief. He's neurotic and perpetually insecure. He can even come across as being a bit of a coward, but he never actually backs out of a fight when the team needs him. He's also just confident enough to provide hilarious commentary on the events unfolding, or the women walking, in front of him. It's easy to picture an amusing meeting between Bug and just about any member of the movie Guardians. Be it in prison or some other stop along the way, Bug can fit in anywhere. Perhaps, though, he would be better served as a second stringer with a chance to make a bigger debut in a potential sequel.
