Guardians Of The Galaxy: 10 Glaring Flaws Everybody Just Ignored

8. The MacGuffin Is Seriously Boring

Why aren't MCU fans more peeved at the fact that every second movie in the canon opts for a really, really boring MacGuffin to drive the story? And we're talking boring MacGuffins of the highest order here: artefacts that are "endlessly powerful," and thus "endlessly vague" as a result. Seriously: Guardians, like Thor: The Dark World before it, is content with offering up a MacGuffin that is of no real interest or curiosity. Fans only seem to let the studio get away with it because they're working towards a huge "Infinity Stones" plotline. The big issue, however, is that these stones have been rendered as completely interchangeable on the big screen - we can't really differentiate between any of them; they all do the same, uncertain thing, in granting already powerful bad guys with even more power. This movie deserved a lot better than that.
