Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 - 10 Things We Want To See
9. Explore Other Alien Races And World-Building
James Gunn had a lotof work to do in the first Guardians film. Not only did he have to introduce five completely different, wacky main characters, but he had to introduce the cosmic side of the MCU in a way that didn't alienate general audiences. Unlike with what DC did with Green Lantern, Gunn fully embraced the cosmic elements of his story and introduced us to countless alien races and a handful of alien worlds. Now that the groundwork has been laid, it's time to dive even deeper into the science fiction elements and explore some more of the alien races. The film's villain, Ronan the Accuser, was a rogue member of the Kree, a deadly alien race. The Kree are mentioned a couple times, but their backstory, culture, and extensive history is never fully explored. Then there are the Celestials, gigantic beings who possess untold power. We glimpsed a quick shot of one Celestial destroying a world via a vision in the Collector's room, and of course the mining colony called Knowhere exists inside the disembodied head of an ancient Celestial being. Perhaps now it's time to explore their history a bit more, and show just how big the cosmic side of the MCU can be. Then of course there are countless other alien races that could take the spotlight, like the Sakaraans, who have ties to the beloved Planet Hulk storyline (more on that in a minute). The possibilities really are endless, and now that fans have been introduced to these cosmic elements, Gunn can hopefully explore them in more detail.
