Guardians Of The Galaxy: 20 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

18. The Collector

First appearing during the post-credits sequence of Thor: The Dark World, Benicio del Toro pretty much had more lines during that little sting scene than he does in his fully-fledged Guardians Of The Galaxy role. Taneleer Tivan - better known as the pseudonymous Collector - is a fairly obscure pull from the comics, but del Toro manages to make quite an impression during his relatively short amount of time on screen. As the third party willing to pay top dollar for the mysterious orb the Guardians have collected, he plays a pretty key role in the progressing plot. Oh and also in housing a bunch of the film's best easter eggs. Before that, though, a little backstory. After the events of The Dark World Sif and Volstagg visit him in amongst his archives, which looks like the warehouse from the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark but like, to the nth degree (and more on Dr Jones a little later). They entrust the Collector with the Aether, the powerful force that some evil elves wanted to use, because they already had the Tesseract in Asgard, and thought it dangerous for two Infinity Stones to be kept so close together. Wait... Infinity Stones - more of those later. The Collector seems less wary about that, however, as once they left he mutters to himself "One down, five to go." Now Tivan seems pretty neutral in Guardians Of The Galaxy, so does that mean Thor is our hint that he's actually up to no good here too? Perhaps, say, in the employ of a certain Thanos...?
