7. Rocket Raccoon
He packs heat - a lot of heat. Rocket has been making waves since the announcement of his character and it hasn't exactly been trouble free. Most are nervous of another Jar Jar-like situation, but have no fear: Rocket would be more at home in The Expendables than he would in Star Wars, and he's more likely to shoot you in the face than make a twonk of himself. Hard as nails and cute as a button, he's the Jason Statham of the furry world... sort of. A technical master of weapons and stratagems, Rocket is not to be trifled with, but he's not all snarling teeth either. A loyal and loving friend to his bestest buddy of limited vocabulary, Groot, who's something of the Chewy to Rocket's Solo. This type of fuzzy hero would ordinarily be associated with something more in line with a Pixar picture, so it's going to be interesting to see how Marvel bring their blend of colourful heroics and self-aware banter to the character on screen. After the amount of grilling Capsicle had to put up with in The Avengers from one Tony Stark, who knows what kind of abuse Rocket will find himself dealing with? While Bradley Cooper may seem a strange casting decision, it should be safe to assume that the comedic value of this courageous critter is in safe hands. If you're interested in learning more about Rocket's origins, I highly recommend volume 1 of Dan Abnett's The Annihilators.
