Guardians Of The Galaxy - 8 Easter Eggs Hidden In The New Trailer

4. Groot, Drax, And Gamora Origins

The rap sheets for the Guardians contain a surprising amount of detail that give comic book afficionados plenty to chew on in regards to the character origins. Each of the characters have convoluted origin stories, but the film does touch on some of the bullet points. Rhomann Dey mentions that Drax's wife and family were killed, sending him on a rampage across the galaxy in search for revenge. In the comics it's Thanos who kills his family, and in the film it's Ronan.
Gamora is desrcibed as the "last survivor of the Zehoberi people," another accurate translation from the books. She was raised by Thanos, and is at one point allied with Ronan, Korath and Nebula before deciding to find her own path.
Groot's rap sheet decribes him as "Flora Colossus," "inhabitant of Taluhnia" from "X," another nod to the books. He was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as a monster from Planet X who invaded Earth. Over time his character was retconned, at one point being an Agent of SHIELD before becoming Rocket's right-hand man.
