8. The Soundtrack Is Awesome
Marvel StudiosWe've had a taste of it in the trailers already, Blue Swede's 'Hooked On A Feeling' and The Runaways 'Cherry Bomb' already stamping quite a signature sound to this unique film. In the preview footage, you get a little more of the interesting exchange between Peter 'Star Lord' Quill and a prison guard who attempts to steal his Walkman that was seen in the trailers. This time though, we saw Quill's reaction, one of an almost desperate panic: it's clearly more to him than just a Walkman and if you know anything of Star Lord's origin story, it's not hard to figure out why. It's a clever narrative device and allows Gunn to insert some otherwise out of place music from 1970's Earth into the proceedings. It sounds weird, but Gunn makes it work, as was indicated in the trailers and made even more apparent during the screening.
