Guardians of the Galaxy: 10 Actors It Needs

5. Thanos - Dennis Haysbert

Thanos has already been portrayed on screen at the tail-end of the Avengers for a brief post-credit scene, though interviews with producers suggest that relatively unknown actor Damien Poitier will probably be recast, likely because they will want a name actor in the role of the insane Titan who seeks only to kill and cause suffering. Few actors have the combination of gravitas and imposing physicality needed to suitably play the role for an entire film, but we suspect Dennis Haysbert, best known for his work on 24 and The Unit, just might be able to pull it off. Haysbert not only has an extremely distinctive voice that would lend itself incredibly well to Thanos, but he's got a tremendously statuesque physical presence, and frankly, it'd be nice to see the guy playing a bad guy for the first time in what seems like forever. In terms of actors versatile enough to pull off a comic book bad guy as iconic and important as Thanos, Haysbert is right at the top of the pile.
