Guardians Of The Galaxy 3: 10 Things We Want To See

If there's one other sci-fi property that feels right at home with the Guardians of the Galaxy, it's this one.

The world of Flash Gordon is a wild and cheesy ride, and there's no doubt Peter Quill must have seen the Sam Jones-headlined movie in his youth. This is a reference that might go over a few people's heads (except for Drax's because he'd catch it, of course), but it would be thematically right and could make for a fantastic gag for those who spot it.

For those unfamiliar with Flash Gordon, it's a 1980 cult classic space opera film based on the comic strip of the same name. It follows the titular hero, an American football player who gets sucked into an intergalactic battle to save Earth from the ruthless Ming the Merciless. It's full of the campy sci-fi goodness you'd expect from the genre in the '80s, and that makes it surprising that Guardians hasn't already touched it.

There are many ways they could make it happen. For example, there could be a cameo from Sam Jones, or they could run into a recast version of the titular character during their travels. No matter what happens, it would be worth a laugh or two.
