Guardians Of The Galaxy 3: 6 Directors Who Could Replace James Gunn

4. Edgar Wright

Known For: The Cornetto Trilogy, Baby Driver, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Why He's Right For The Job: Another big comic-book fan, Wright is famous for infusing his movies with a wry sense of humour and tons of pop-culture references, and those two traits could easily be describing either of the Guardians movies.

He's also a fan-favourite filmmaker, and in terms of fostering goodwill - something Disney and Marvel will need to consider as they choose Gunn's replacement - it's hard to imagine another choice that would be received as warmly as this one would.

Chances Of It Happening: This is a tricky one.

Wright was set to direct Ant-Man before the MCU even existed, but parted ways with Marvel over creative differences. Part of the problem was that Marvel weren't too keen on making an "Edgar Wright" movie. It seems like the split was amicable, but without actually being present at those meetings, there's no way to know for sure.

But let's be optimistic and assume it was amicable. After the monster successes of the Guardians franchise and Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel must be more open to giving Wright greater freedom, and clearly the guy would be very interested in directing a comic-book movie. 6/10

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
